Growth doesn’t always happen by chance, sometimes it’s built shift by shift, role by role. Since joining NRI in 2021, Angel Gomez has steadily grown from Order Fulfillment Processor to Supervisor, gaining hands-on experience across multiple departments and facilities along the way. In this Q&A, Angel shares how his career evolved, the projects that shaped his leadership style, and why promoting leadership at all levels is a value he lives out every day.

Q: Tell me about your history at NRI: How long you’ve been here, the positions you’ve held, and the facilities you’ve worked in.

Angel: I’ve been with NRI since 2021. I started as an Order Fulfillment Processor at one of our Inland Empire facilities and worked my way up to Order Fulfillment Processing Lead on the weekend shift. During that time, my supervisor mentored me on how to run a shift and really understand the ins and outs of operations. I was then promoted to Order Fulfillment Processing Supervisor and transitioned to our Henderson, NV facility. Once Henderson was fully up and running, there was a need for additional leadership support in other departments. I had been eager to cross-train, so it was a great opportunity. I stepped into the role of Shipping, Receiving, and Returns Supervisor, expanding my operational experience. In 2025, I decided to move back home to be closer to family and applied for the Order Fulfillment Processing Supervisor role at our LC facility, which is now my home base.

Q: What What makes NRI stand out to you?

Angel: Honestly, NRI was my first real job after high school. Before that, I just worked weekends as a busser at Kimmie’s Coffee Cup. Starting here right after graduation really shaped the beginning of my career. What stood out to me right away was the work environment. It’s always been supportive and positive, and that’s what hooked me early on. I also found it fascinating how every department works hand in hand. Seeing how the entire operational cycle connects and functions together gave me a real appreciation for how the logistics world operates.

Q: Have there been any specific opportunities or projects at NRI that contributed to your growth and development?

Angel: I’ve had the opportunity to be part of several projects at NRI, but the two I’m most proud of are the Henderson facility startup and staff training initiatives. The Henderson startup was impactful because it was my first facility launch. I was involved in department layout planning, hiring staff, building the team, and supporting all major startup components. Being part of building something from the ground up really accelerated my growth as a leader. Last year, I was also given the opportunity to help train management and staff at another facility. I walked them through our pick and pack processes, showed them how we prioritize the queue, and helped align their operations with our standards. That experience strengthened both my leadership and communication skills.

Q: Describe your current role at NRI.

Angel: I’m currently the Order Fulfillment Processing Supervisor at our LC facility on the mid shift. In this role, I oversee the order fulfillment side of operations and support daily performance, team leadership, and process execution. Because I overlap with both shifts, I also assist with special projects and client onboarding, helping ensure clear communication and a smooth handoff of information between teams.

Q: What do you like to do outside of work?

Angel: Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and skateboarding. It’s a great way for me to unwind and stay active.

Q: Which NRI value do you align with most, and why?

Angel: The NRI value I align with most is Promoting Leadership at All Levels.” I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support, mentorship, and guidance I received throughout my journey at NRI. Because of that, I strongly believe in cross-training and actively developing our associates. Helping guide others toward success and giving them opportunities to grow is something I take seriously in my role.
