What to Expect from NRI’s Expansion into Europe

Since our official announcement, we’ve been thrilled by the overwhelmingly positive response from our clients and partners. Their enthusiasm has only strengthened our resolve to bring NRI’s trusted services to Europe. We’re excited to share more details about this endeavor and how it aligns with our commitment to helping brands grow and succeed on a global scale. We can’t wait to welcome current and new partners to NRI Europe! 

We sat down with NRI’s VP of Business Development, Ryan Dale-Johnson to discuss NRI Europe and what it means for our clients and partners. Ryan shares insights into the opportunities this expansion will create, the motivations behind the decision, and how NRI is poised to help brands thrive in this dynamic market. 

Q: When and where is NRI Europe expected to launch?  

A: We are excited to open our doors in Venlo, Netherlands, and Membury, UK in September of this year. Brexit created the necessity to open in both the UK and mainland Europe, and we are up for the challenge! With our history of operating in both the USA and Canada, this feels natural for us to operate in 2 regions near one another, but across an economic border. 

Q: What brands are a good fit to join NRI in Europe? 

A: Both existing NRI clients and new clients are eager to enter the European market, and we’re here to help both make the most of this opportunity. While our core expertise lies in apparel, footwear, and accessories—categories that demand high SKU counts, high-touch services (e-commerce, VAS, returns, etc.), and rigorous inventory control—we’re always excited to explore other categories that align with our strengths. For those who are curious about how to get started, we’d love to chat! 

 Q: What opportunities will this expansion offer?  

A: Europe and the UK are key global markets, and we see immense value in supporting brands as they explore these opportunities. We’ve had great conversations with numerous brands in our space who are looking for 3PL support they are not finding in those markets today. Some brands have dipped a toe in the market but have not yet been able to fully explore opportunities without improved warehousing and fulfillment. We aim to provide support that will allow brands to scale – a constant effort of ours in all markets we operate. Any current NRI clients will additionally benefit from systems integrations they are already familiar with. We are here to support every step of the way with an educational-first approach, ensuring brands have all the information they need to succeed. Our clients will benefit from our enterprise technology solutions, and NRI’s brand-centric approach – ensuring the same high level of service we hold ourselves to in North America today. 

Q: What motivated the decision to expand into Europe?  

A: The expansion was driven by a clear need and our mission to help our clients scale where we can add the most value. Europe represents a significant market for both our existing and target clients. In fact, many of our clients have been asking us to establish a presence in Europe, just as they did 13 years ago when we expanded from Canada into the USA. This expansion is all about “being where our clients want and need us to be.” 

Q: Will there be opportunities for European businesses to collaborate or partner with NRI?  

A: Absolutely. Our goal is to support not only brands from North America (and also Australia, New Zealand, and other key global regions) in the European market, but also to help European brands grow within their home geography. Through this expansion, we’re also excited to get to know more European brands better and assist them in Canada and the USA.
